“I complained about the same thing and Etisalat did nothing. I agree the box is way too loud and the remote on the PVR is the worst remote I've ever used. It shouldn't be this difficult to change a channel. UAE has one of the highest internet and TV prices and you'd think they'd stop using inferior quality products.”
“We recently subscribed to eLife and were given 1 PVR box and 1 standard set top box, the standard box being for the bedroom. From the moment the standard box was installed, we noticed that it was extremely noisy and called Etisalat to ask them to replace it. We were informed that this was a new box and that replacing it would make no difference. As far as they’re concerned, the box is fine and it is normal for it to be noisy.
I worked several years for a pay TV company and am therefore pretty familiar with set top boxes of different brands. I have however never heard a box make as much noise as the one provided to us by Etisalat. It is so noisy that we have to turn the power supply off at the socket as leaving the box in standby mode keeps us awake at night. You can hear the box over the sound of the air conditioner!
I would love to know if other Etisalat customers have experienced this problem and if they were able to resolve it. Should I be getting the box checked out to ensure that it complies with safety regulations?”
