Manchester City’s success is down to it’s owner’s “dedication, wisdom and sound planning”, a senior UAE figure has said.

National news agency WAM reported the comments of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, as he congratulated HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, on the clinching the English Premier League title.

It was the first time Manchester City had won England’s top tier in 44 years. Sheikh Mansour bought the club in 2008.

WAM reported that Sheikh Ahmed said the achievement was a result of Sheikh Mansour's dedication, wisdom and sound planning.

Sheikh Ahmed is one of a number of UAE VIPs to offer their congratulations, including the President, HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the Vice-President, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. City, which is managed by Roberto Mancini, beat QPR 3-2 on Sunday to win the title by scoring two goals in stoppage time.

They finished ahead of rivals Manchester United on goal difference.
